Melbourne City Ballet is the cities newest and most exciting Neo-classical company. A dance company based on new idea’s, where independent dancers and choreographers can come together to work on and develop neo-classical movement in Australia.
Establish in 2013, Founder Michael Pappalardo saw a need to have a company that works closely with independent dancers in Melbourne and bring them together with emerging choreographers to provide a platform for launching new and exciting work.
Melbourne City Ballet is the city's newest and most exciting Neo-classical company. A dance company based on new idea’s, where independent dancers and choreographers can come together to work on and develop neo-classical movement in Australia. There is a lack of support for independent neo-classical dance in Australia but an abundance of dancers and choreographic talent, we recognise this and that is why Melbourne City Ballet is so important and a vital part of Australia’s performing arts family.
MCB boasts a diverse repertoire of new neoclassical works but also delivers traditional classical repertoire, standing apart from other companies because at MCB we are solely interested in sharing our art with the community by offering affordable ticket prices in many of the smaller theatres where classical and neo-classical dance does not reaching currently.
